Colorful, Destination Palm Springs Wedding | John & Yvonne
John & Yvonne’s love for color, style and everything Palm Springs was exactly why they chose to have their intimate destination wedding here in sunny Palm Springs. Ironically, it just so happened to just rain that same day! What could have been a bummer, actually made for gorgeous light and only aided in their colorful Palm Springs wedding – que the fuchsia umbrellas – which were picture perfect!
Surrounded by close friends, John and Yvonne exchanged their vows with one another. Celebrations continued with laughter, love and great company.
From the moment I had spoken with Yvonne about her wedding plans, I could tell that her style was not only on point (wedding dress with pockets! YES please!) … but her excitement was so genuine. I couldn’t wait to meet her and her fiance John.
Yvonne was kind enough to share more about how she and John met, and how she knew he was the one.
Yvonne – Our story, according to me…
John and I met in 2003 when I was still living in New York, and we instantly connected. We quickly became good friends and shared conversations no one else would ever hear. Over the years, even though we rarely lived in the same city, we continued to stay in touch. In 2008, while living back in L.A., I decided to take a job opportunity in Baltimore, MD, of all places. He said that if I was really committed to making this move that he would drive across the country with me.
Within a week, he had an excel spreadsheet mapping out our entire trip, down to the mileage and restaurants we wanted to visit based on “Diners, Drive-ins & Dives”, and we were off on a ten day journey that would ultimately change my life.
When I finally moved back to L.A. in 2014, John and I picked up our friendship right where we left off. We hung out regularly, except now it was the three of us, John, myself, and my son Miles.
One late Sunday afternoon, after several drinks and during a wonderful conversation, John asked if I ever thought about giving us a chance. I pondered the question for a moment as he told me he loved me for the first time, and I said to him, “You should brush your teeth so we can make out and see if we have chemistry.” Of course we both laughed at my suggestion, but it made sense with all the vodka that had been involved, and I wanted our first kiss to be a good one. Then, he went and brushed his teeth!
You can imagine how the story went from there since we are now married and have a baby girl on the way! John never ceases to amaze me with his patience, loyalty and kindness. He is some kind of wonderful I never imagined in a husband and father, and the gratitude I feel for what the universe has bestowed upon me, words cannot describe.
